What We Believe

We believe...

• God is the subject of every sentence of our spiritual lives.
• God’s power and love is revealed to us in the Bible.
• God entered human history in an intimate way through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
• God loves, saves, and forgives us by grace alone.

Where We've Come From

Our History

• Christ Community Church was founded in February, 1991 and held its first worship service on April 28, 1991.  Thirty baptized Christians were the founding members who called the Rev. William L. Groennert as their first pastor. 
• In 1993, Christ Community became part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and as a result became Christ Community Lutheran Church.The year 1993 also saw the purchase of twenty-six acres that would eventually become home to our existing facility which opened on Pentecost Sunday, May 19, 2002.
• On July 16, 2006, the Rev. Jared M. Parker was called as the second pastor of Christ Community. Pastor Jared worked alongside Pastor Bill until Pastor Bill’s retirement in June of 2008.
• Since that time, Christ Community continues to grow and minister in Columbia and the surrounding community.  A focus on children, youth, and families as well as the belief that all of us are called to be ministers drives the church forward into the future.
• Christ Community Lutheran Church's mission is to be a church "growing in faith, becoming disciples, and living the Word."  As we move forward together, we pray for God’s guidance in this mission and for whatever else God is calling this church.  We hope you'll join us and help us build a future pleasing in God's eyes.
